EV Charging Time Calculator

Battery size, charging power and current state of charge are enough to estimate when the car will be ready. The calculator also accounts for charging losses, which are noticeable on a household socket in particular.

Note: All calculated values (duration, energy, costs, and range) are rough estimates for guidance. Real-world charging results may deviate depending on ambient temperature, battery preconditioning, vehicle charging curves, and grid fluctuations.

How it works: EV Charging Time Calculator

  1. Pick an example such as "11 kW wall box / 60 kWh" or enter your own values.
  2. Set current and target state of charge in percent.
  3. Read charging time, finish time and cost.

All features are available in the tool Battery & EV Charge Time Calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my car charge slower than calculated?

Many cars charge much more slowly above roughly 80%, and cold weather slows the battery further. The numbers are a guide.

How long does it take on a household socket?

At about 2.3 kW, a 50 kWh battery takes roughly 14 to 15 hours from 20 to 80%. On an 11 kW wall box it is around 3 hours.

How does this tool work?

Interactive charging time calculator for electric vehicles, home storage, and batteries, factoring in efficiency losses, SoC ranges, and scheduled start times.

Calculates required energy (net/gross in kWh), duration factoring in efficiency, estimated completion time, electricity costs, and added driving range. Features real-time charge tracking, calendar reminders, and shareable links. Note: All calculations including costs and durations are approximate estimates and may deviate from real-world charging due to ambient temperature, battery preconditioning, and vehicle charging curves.
