Crop an Image to a Square

Profile pictures, product photos and many social posts need a square. 1080 × 1080 pixels is already set here, and the "Cover" mode trims the overhanging edges evenly. So the subject should sit roughly in the middle.

How it works: Crop an Image to a Square

  1. Drop the images into the box.
  2. Change the size if needed, for example 500 × 500 for a profile picture.
  3. Click "Process Images" and download them one by one or as a ZIP.

All features are available in the tool Image Batch Processor.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose which part of the image stays?

No, the tool always crops from the center. For a freely chosen section you need an image editor. In return, 50 photos are done as quickly as one.

What size does Instagram use?

1080 × 1080 pixels for square posts. Instagram scales larger images down anyway.

What happens to images that are already square?

They are only resized to the chosen size, nothing is cut off.

How does this tool work?

Process a large number of images at once and save time on standard tasks like resizing or converting.

Upload multiple images and specify the desired actions (e.g., format change to WebP, new target size, or cropping). The tool applies these settings to all images and makes them available for download as a bundle. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Where are my data processed?

Only in your browser. Your data is not sent to any server.

The tool calculates and converts with JavaScript right on your device. Input and files are not sent to us or anyone else. You can check this yourself: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool keeps working in the open tab.
