# View EXIF Data

> See what a photo contains: camera, lens, exposure, capture time and GPS position. The photo is not uploaded for this.

Almost every phone photo stores more than the picture itself, often including the exact location. Before you sell, send or post photos, check here what is in them.

- Open in browser: https://pockettoolbox.org/en/view-exif-data
- Tool: [Exif Data Viewer](https://pockettoolbox.org/en/exif-viewer)
- Runs entirely in your browser; files and input are never uploaded.

## How it works

1. Drop a photo into the box.
2. Go through the list or filter it with the search box, for example for "GPS".

## FAQ

### Why does my image show no data?

Messengers like WhatsApp and many social networks strip EXIF data when sending. Try the original photo from your camera app.

### How do I get rid of the GPS data?

On iPhone, turn off location under "Options" when sharing. On Windows, use Properties > Details > "Remove Properties and Personal Information".
