# Compress & Resize Images

> Shrink photos that are too large for email, job portals or your website. JPG, PNG and WebP, with a before and after comparison and no upload.

Phone photos are often 4 to 8 MB these days. Too much for an email or a form with a 2 MB limit. With quality around 80 percent and a slightly lower resolution you usually end up with a fraction of that, and the image looks the same.

- Open in browser: https://pockettoolbox.org/en/compress-image
- Tool: [Image Compressor](https://pockettoolbox.org/en/image-compressor)
- Runs entirely in your browser; files and input are never uploaded.

## How it works

1. Drop the images into the box.
2. Set the quality and, if needed, reduce the size with the scale setting.
3. Compare the result with the slider and download.

## FAQ

### Which quality should I use?

For photos, 75 to 80 percent is a good starting point. Below that you eventually see banding in skies and skin tones.

### My image has to be under 1 MB. How?

Besides the quality, set the scale to about 50 percent. A photo 2000 pixels wide is enough for almost any screen.
